Maggie Bridges

Miss Southern Rivers Outstanding Teen 2009

Maggie Bridges is the daughter of John and Cathy Bridges of Brinson, Georgia.  She is a fifteen year old sophomore at Southwest Georgia Academy , where she is an honor roll student. 

     Maggie has been dancing at Murkerson Dance Academy for twelve years and also is studying her eighth year of piano. She is involved in her church as a participant of a local shoebox ministry group providing Christmas boxes for underprivileged children abroad and in the states.  Additionally, she sings in the youth choir and in a praise band that leads services on Wednesday nights.  She enjoys entertaining at community festival events through dance and vocal performances and is an active participant in her local little theater.  She has been swimming competitively since the age of five and proclaims it to be her favorite sport.  Maggie is also a member of her school’s cross country and track teams.

     Her personal platform is called “Fit for Life”. It is about educating people about the importance of implementing a healthy lifestyle at an early age, because these habits will be likely to carry over into a person’s adult life.  She believes this message, however, can be given to people of all ages- grandparents, adults, teens, and children- because one can get fit and be healthy at any age.  She is planning a 5k run and fun run to be held later this year to encourage people in her community to get fit and be active!  She plans to use this event to help provide funds for Miss America Outstanding Teen's national platform:  Children's Miracle Network.
