An official Miss America Preliminary, the Miss Columbus Scholarship pageant was established in 1959.   The pageant is held in Columbus, Georgia, the home of the Miss Georgia Pageant since 1945.  After being dormant for two years, a new board reestablished the Miss Columbus franchise in 2003.  The Miss Columbus Pageant is a closed pageant.

An official Miss America Preliminary, the Miss Southern Rivers franchise was established in 2005 and is also held in Columbus, Georgia.  This franchise shares the same Executive Board as the Miss Columbus pageant.
